Last Day in the Service of the Leviathan
As a few of you may know, I've been under employ by the Federal Govenment for nearly seven and a half years now. I've been under the thumb of the United States Coast Guard (a subsidary of the Department of Homeland Security) and their Uniform Code of Military Justice for far too long....

So I decided what better way to celebrate than to do something I hadn't done in about 10 years: go to Rocky Horror Picture show in a theatre. Apparently it's only done four nights a year in St. Louis (though I haven't seen it done anywhere else I've lived since I joined the military, so I can't rightly complain) and I was lucky enough to get in on Friday night. I let my hair down (or up depending on your understanding) and decided to go all out. It was a fantastic evening and a great celebration. My wife Sara and I both got dressed up: her in grand vaudeville attire, and I as unconventional conventionest...

Weee, back to civilian life! Congrats on the achievement medal :)

I had a great time in the military, but never really appreciated it fully until after I got out and saw how different everything else was on the outside. Took me a while to get used to it and I still don't think I've ever fully adjusted.

Yeah, I bet you weren't behind a desk most of the time. But honestly, yeah, I mean I appreciate everything that they did, but like I couldn't stand the job. I'm sure you know what I mean. And, I probably won't ever fully adjust. I've got "war stories" up the wazoo... not like battle stories, but just military stories. I'll probably be telling them at parties for the rest of my life ;_;

Also, I didn't know you were in the military. What branch?

Awesome. How much interaction did you guys do with the flick? Did you get up on stage?

Nahh, this was fairly tame in comparison to the ones I did back in High School. There were just so many people (the whole theatre was sold out). There were so many virgins that they just got the "fuck you," which was highly disappointing.

Congratulations on your service--what an achievement! It looks like you had quite a great time at Rocky Horror, too.
